What Artificial Intelligence Can't See
Updated: Jun 18, 2021
Sometimes an interview can open your eyes to critical issues of which you were previously unaware. I was humbled to speak with Wesleyan alumnus Hong Qu '99 for the Summer 2021 issue of Wesleyan University Magazine. For the past two decades, Hong has held important roles in some of the most influential tech companies, including Google and YouTube, and news organizations, such as Upworthy and Fusion. He is also working in academia to address concerns around inequity in tech.
For this Q&A, we discussed the evolution of the internet and technology, ethical dilemmas associated with our digital world, and how--with the right intentions and governance--AI can be tuned to actually build a more equitable society.
